Founded in 1979 under the stewardship of Paul Belden, III, Belden Brick & Supply Company has earned a reputation of representing the finest masonry products in the industry. As a teenager Paul Belden, III began his career in the brick industry working part-time as a laborer for his family's brick manufacturing company, Belden Brick Company. An enthusiasm for the industry was instilled by his grandfather, Paul Belden, Sr., whose father, Henry Belden, began manufacturing brick in 1885 in Canton, Ohio. Continuing the family tradition, Paul III entered into the family business after graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 1962, just as his father, Paul Belden, Jr. did after his graduation from the same institution in 1932.

In 1962, three generations of Paul Beldens worked for the then 77 year old Belden Brick Company. Paul III moved his family to Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1965 after accepting the position of District Sales Manager. Over the following fourteen years, Paul III ardently promoted his family's brick products to the architectural communities throughout Michigan. He created longstanding business alliances with discerning architects earning him a reputation for leadership within the industry.

In 1979, after discussing a return to Canton, Ohio, Paul III and his wife Shirley concluded they could not leave Grand Rapids, which they and their three boys had grown to love and considered their home. After a seventeen year career with his family's business, Paul III purchased the Grand Rapids Builder's Supply Company, which had been a distributor of Belden Brick since 1908. Shortly thereafter, Paul III renamed the business Belden Brick & Supply Company. Along with three other employees, Paul III began to build upon business alliances who sought quality masonry products.

Two of their three sons, Paul IV and Todd, joined Paul III to continue the Belden tradition of brick sales throughout Michigan. Paul Belden, IV joined the family business in 1983 after graduating from Loyola University New Orleans. In 1992, Todd Belden joined his father and brother. This was after a two year career in the financial markets of Wall Street which followed after graduating from the University of Notre Dame.

Today, steeped in five generations of brick making and sales, the Beldens along with twenty five Belden Brick & Supply employees, maintain that the legacy of success relies on two factors: quality products and relationships with true craftsmen.

We value your feedback on your Belden experience.
