5 Ways to Decorate Your Fireplace Mantel for Christmas
As Christmas approaches and decorations are flying up, we wanted to give you some fun ideas for decorating your masonry fireplace mantel.
Dress up your mantel with flocked greens and white and silver accessories. Add pops of light blue to give it an extra eye-catching, icy look.
Bring back lovely family memories with old photos in different sizes of antique frames. (If you don’t have antique frames, you could always purchase frames and spray paint them with a bronze or gold spray paint!) Layer the frames on the mantle and add greens with old or handmade ornaments. To really bring you back in time – fill up clear, glass candy jars with original Christmas candy such as candy canes, ribbon candy and gum drops.
A rustic styled mantel will look especially great if you have a barn beam or a fieldstone fireplace! Add old snowshoes or old skis with some winter greens and traditional stockings. Stick with red and green color scheme to keep it super classic.
Channel west coast vibes with a boho mantel. Think wooden beads, tassel garland, and an eclectic mix of colors and textures.
Fresh winter greens, garlands, wreaths, and berry branches. You can even dry orange slices and string them into an orange garland. To make it more fun, add small poinsettia plants and layer different heights of candles (just be careful not to catch anything on fire!)
** to make the orange garland – slice oranges into ¼” round slices and bake them in the oven on 250 degrees for 2.5 hours or until dried. Once dried, string them together with thread or twine!
